I just signed up! This will more than likely be my first tourney.

I don't have any Aces to my name, but it looks like a fun way to get into some tourney play and meet the different people in the area.

I may have a couple of friends who are interested as well to get some more sign ups going. Do we need a minimum number of people to ensure this thing goes?

Awesome! Yeah it should be great times Charles.. We don't have to have any set number of people.. But I'd estimate that at least 50 or so will probably play. Hopefully more :)

I am in the same boat as you, should be a real good time and an awesome first tourney experience, even if it isnt a traditional tourney.

I am trying to talk my brother in law who lives in houston to come down and stay with me for the event, well see how it goes.

Hah! Good deal then :) Encourage them to sign up as soon as they can.. I know the event is still a good ways out, but the more that sign up early the better so we can gauge how many packs to buy :)

I convinced my brother in-law to come up from houston to do the ace race so he should be registering soon. Jason McEwen. . .

Are you serious? Ugh.. Why was there nothing posted about that being the date of the MJCO if people knew already? I looked everywhere and that was one of the open weekends. Is MJCO a two day event? Josh, will you shoot me a text or something with any other tourney dates so we can hold this thing when there isn't a tourney going on? Obviously using the interwebs and PDGA.com won't help me a damn bit.

I'll send Gary Duke an email in a bit and try to coordinate things.. We might have to move the Ace Race to a week earlier or a week later or something so it doesn't interfere with the Carrollton Open.

FYI (for you and everyone else) - PDGA.com only lists events that have already turned in their sanctioning agreement. Even then it might be a week or two before it gets listed, depending on when they get to it. Unsanctioned events (like ace races) are not listed there. lsdga.com is usually a good place to find out what is going on in TX disc golf. That site is owned and maintained by Gary Duke, and has been the place to go for such things since about 1999/2000. Lately Gary has been too busy to keep the schedule posted, but he does still coordinate everything. He is the elected PGDA state coordinator :)

I list registration for events very quickly after they are submitted to titledisc.com by the TDs... but not everyone uses my service, either. not even DGD, apparently ;)

Lol! :) I'd glady use you for a bigger tournament bro. This Ace Race should be pretty easy to manage. Feel free to put a link on TD and give us free publicity though!

Anything earlier would rule so hard. Just because Sept 11th is so far

I'm probably going to move the Ace Race to Sept. 25th. Sept 11th is MJCO, 18th is Lewsiville Open... 25th it is. If this doesn't work for someone that's already registered please let me know and we'll work something out.

There is nothing that I know of the last 2 saturdays of August. Unless that is too close.

Yeah the park is booked.. Also there is a PDGA C-tier @ Bill Allen on the 28th. DiscGolfDallas.com is a sponsor of that tourney :)

Yeah.. If no one else knows the Ace Race has officially been moved to September 25th. I don't care if the USDGC comes to Dallas that weekend, we're not moving it again :)

Get signed up early! The earlier, the better!

From a guy I know from another forum: "Got to play an Ace Race last weekend, and the disc is definitely interesting. It goes further than you think it will, and is pretty overstable, but I wouldn't go as far as to call it a meathook. You can turn it fairly easily, and most people were throwing theirs straightish by the end of the tournament. Interesting tidbit, several other players and I felt that the harder you threw the disc, the more overstable it was. Still can't figure that out." Another guy said he was "thinking whippet counterpart". Should be fun.

Are we really moving it? I've got people flying in from Arizona to play on the 11th...

Yeah we had to.. It's the same weekend as the 2-day Mr. Jim's Carrollton Open.. It's one of the biggest tournaments of the year in north Texas.

Sorry man, the 25th is the only open weekend in September.
